Building the Foundation for a Lifetime of Wellness

Getting chiropractic is a lot like building a house. There is a certain order that things have to happen in order for the building, and the body, to stand strong and work together properly. If you try to do things out of order, like building your walls before the foundation, your walls will be structurally weak and will eventually collapse. When you try to build your roof, and your walls weren't ready or structurally sound, then the roof would have the same outcome as the walls. It would eventually collapse. If you take these concepts and think about the body in the same light, you can understand how chiropractic care works. When the foundation of your body is off, it'll create problems in other areas of your body, forcing it to collapse or fall into a state of dis- ease. With chiropractic, there are certain orders that your body has to go through before true health can be achieved. There are three distinct phases of care that you'll go through in our office.

Phase One: Acute Care

If you are in pain when you come into our clinic, our first and foremost goal is to get rid of or reduce your symptoms and your pain. It really depends on the severity of the underlying problem or condition to know how many times you're going to need to come in for care. No two people are alike, and no two conditions are alike.

Phase Two: Corrective Care

During this phase, we will make long lasting corrections to your spine. The muscles, ligaments and tendons are allowed to heal more completely. This will help prevent other injuries and keep your prior injury from recurring. Also, during this phase, we will utilize exercises and other rehabilitation procedures to help restore your spine back to its normal alignment. We want to restore as close to 100% function as we can during this phase of care. Sometimes, depending on the severity of the problem, 100% is not achievable. In this case, we're trying to restore you to as high functioning as possible.

Phase Three: Wellness/Elective Care

Once we've got you as good as we can get you, it is important to come in for periodic chiropractic check-ups to avoid further problems and to maintain your adjustments. Most of our patient's use chiropractic as a way to help maintain their health and prevent injuries.

Your First Visit

Patient Forms

When you arrive at our clinic, our front desk receptionist will great you with a friendly smile and welcome you into our clinic. We have water, coffee or tea available while you fill out your paperwork and wait to be seen by the doctor. To save you time, you can download the new patient forms ahead of time and fill them out, bringing them in with you. This will make your visit much faster and more efficient.

Consultation and Examination

Next, you will meet with one of our doctors to discuss your primary problems and concerns. This initial portion of this visit is not to treat you, but to listen to you, learn more about your problem or condition and to find out if you are a good chiropractic candidate. After we have discussed your problem, the doctor will then examine you by doing range of motion testing, orthopedic exams, neurological exams and a complete chiropractic exam. These tests are to determine if there is dysfunction that may be causing your problem. The doctor may perform other tests specific to your condition that will give them more information to move them towards a decision of whether or not you're a good candidate for chiropractic care and whether or not they can help you. For more pictures of our rooms and equi PMent, click here.

Posture Scanning

The final exam step of this visit is a posture scan analysis. Using the FootLevelers custom scanner, you will be asked to remove your shoes and socks and stand on our scanning machine. This device will scan the bottom of your feet to look at foot pronation, how equally you carry weight on each side of your body, and if you have fallen arches in your feet. Just like a home, if the foundation is uneven, the doors and windows above will not open and close correctly. The feet are the foundation to your body so if there are problems with them it will affect your spine as well. For more pictures of our rooms and equi PMent, click here.

X-Ray and Further Imaging Tests

Depending on what the doctor finds, they may or may not order imaging such as x-rays. X-rays are taken completely dependent on your condition and whether or not the doctor finds them necessary to make the proper decision regarding your healthcare needs. What we've found is that most people find it amazing to see their x-rays and have them explained in such a high level of detail. With X-rays, they can help rule in and rule out serious conditions as well as levels of degeneration and misalignment. We do not take x-rays In our clinic, but will refer them out to our local hospital systems to have them taken and returned to us.

Schedule Day 2 Appointment

At this time, all the information has been collected and we may be waiting on the posture scan results and x-rays reports to arrive. Our chiropractic assistant will get you rescheduled for your Day 2 appointment (within the next 2 days), where the doctor will go over the results of your examination, your testing results, and let you know whether or not you are a candidate for chiropractic care. For more pictures of our rooms and equipment, click here.

Day 2 Report of Findings

At this visit, the doctor will answer a few questions you may have such as: 1. Can you help me? 2. If you can, how long will it take? 3. How much will it cost? The report of findings is a great place to bring a spouse, close Family member, or someone that cares about your health and well being. It's very difficult to remember everything that was said, and two heads are often better than one. It also helps for your support system to know what you're going through. Based on years of experience, you will only hear the truth from our doctors. If they can help you, they will tell you, but if not, they will tell you that too.

Chiropractic Treatment

After you have finished with your report of findings and gone over the financial aspect of care, you will get your first chiropractic adjustment and possibly other treatment if it was ordered. The chiropractic adjustment is where all the magic happens in our clinic. Our chiropractors understand the hesitation and anxiety when it comes to getting your first chiropractic adjustment. We have a no stress, very open environment where you can discuss your treatment, what is going to happen and what to do after your first chiropractic adjustment.
